Photo Organization with Lightroom, Plain and Simple

How to effectively organize and work with your digital photos in Lightroom
Course Created by Rob Sheppard
My mission is to show people how to create compelling photos, especially of nature. I believe we all have a unique vision to share through photography and that the craft of photography matters if you want your photos to communicate at their best. Great photography is about finding ways to create meaning in your photography and connect people with the natural world.

I have been busy over the years creating over 40 books related to photography, including Landscape Photography: From Snapshot to Great Shot, The Magic of Digital Nature Photography, and the National Geographic Field Guide to Digital Photography.

I get around as a speaker and workshop leader, and I am a Fellow with the North American Nature Photography Association. I was the long-time editor of the prestigious Outdoor Photographer magazine and presently am a contributing editor.

Digital photography is great because you can quickly and easily take lots of pictures. But then what? How can you organize them in order to better use them? Your computer has some great features for storing thousands of images, but if you don't get them organized and find a way to work with them so that you can actually find images again, the computer is no better than a high-priced shoebox. Lightroom offers you some outstanding tools for working with and organizing your images. However, Lightroom does no organizing on its own. The organizing is up to you. Lightroom is like Staples in offering you a lot of tools for organization, but how you use them is up to you. This class will show you exactly how to do that.

But this is no compendium of details you have to memorize. This course gives you what you really need to know and doesn't try to be an encyclopedia of Lightroom information that you'll never use. This course covers workflow ideas that work for the average photographer no matter how many images you have.

You will learn how to organize images in Lightroom using tips that will make Lightroom work for you. You will learn ways of working with the Lightroom interface effectively, plus how to get started organizing your images right. You will learn the power of importing images through Lightroom, how to look at them for deleting and cleaning up your files, and editing them in the traditional meaning of editing. You will discover possibilities of connecting words to your photos through metadata and keywords that will make your image searching easier. And you'll learn to use the power of collections.
